Loved this short series. Read why here.

#rebeccabuddyread wraps up on Sunday. Will definitely be doing something like this again with the Page by Page book club. The response has been fabulous.

Haha, love the joke. I have the Smith, too, but haven’t started it yet. Have had a very slow reading week.
Who or what is Birds of Tokyo!!? I’m clearly out of the loop.

π An Australian band who have been around for a few years now, big on the Triple J scene. I quite like them.
The Electric Hotel is very good. It’s just taking me a while as I’m not all that well, keeping a virus at bay and losing, so I can only read at present in short bursts before falling asleep.

Haha, Theresa (not about your being unwell, but about my lack of knowledge of Triple J music!) I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well. I don’t have that excuse for being slow this week, but Sir Walter Scott is not the fastest read I’m finding!

I’m glad here the Dead Go was your book of the book. It’s very near the top of my TBR pile.

I’m really enjoying the buddy read too and can’t wait to be able to discuss it ‘in full’ when it finishes on Sunday. I’m excited to hear you’d be open to doing something like this again in the future π
What about From the Wreck by Jane Rawson? Australian author, backlist book that could be good for discussion? I do love reading a classic together though. What about Lord of the Flies by William Golding or The Dumb House by John Burnside?

I’ve had From the Wreck on my tbr since it first came out! I haven’t heard of The Dumb House. π€

I know! I did a compare bookshelves on GoodReads and noticed you had The Wreck on your list.
The premise for The Dumb House is an experiment with children raised (by mutes) without language to determine if language is inherent or acquired. The narrator wants to discover the nature of the human soul. Itβs supposed to be dark and disturbing with beautiful writing.

I’ll have to look that up. Intriguing premise!
