Winding back just a little bit this time, only to a year ago.
I was having a very productive week, reading wise, this time last year!
All good books, each of them. Have you read any of these? Thoughts on them?

Yes… I liked The Year of the Farmer. I went to hear the author talk about it – and she was a bit evangelical about water management, but I felt she kept that under control in the book.

Yes, it wasn’t over the top in the book. I remember you writing about going to the author talk now that you mention it.

I don’t go to author talks as much as I used to when there were a lot at the Wheeler Centre. Most of the ones I’d like to go to are at Readings in Carlton and from our side of town, that is a real pain to get to in the peak hour at 6.30pm.

It would be! Not a great time, really. The dinner hour.

I’ve just finished reading The Ghost Wall. What a clever and surprising book it is — the suspense and sense of threat builds so slowly but surely. I’m always interested in the way writers make connections between present and past , and Moss does this without the usual time-slip or discovered ancient document. It makes the impact even more powerful for me. I loved it

It’s a powerful little novel and innovative, as you point out about the presentation of history. This was my third novel by Moss and I’ve found each of them equally as impressive.

I’m not setting out to read the rest of them, Theresa (and I think she reviewed The Anchoress in the UK — I think she liked it!)

Did she? That’s lovely!

Oh whoops. I meant, I am *now* setting out to read the rest of them. Just one letter changes the whole sentence.

That is unusual because you read far more than me! 😁
