The ABIA 2020 Longlist was released today. I thought I’d just do my usual replication of the list, so here it is:
Very pleased to see Your Own Kind Of Girl by Clare Bowditch listed!
Fingers crossed for The Dutch House here but I also liked Where The Crawdads Sing.
Look at this bottom row! ❤
Caught between two favourites here with Invented Lives and Paris Savages.
And a second nomination for Your Own Kind Of Girl! 🙌
A shortlist will be released on Thursday 9th April with winners announced on Wednesday 29th April.
Some really great books there.

I’ve read almost nothing! The white girl – yes, have read that. I do have a few on my TBR, including a couple I should get to in the next couple of months – Bruny and The yellow notebook, in particular. I’d like to read a few others including Sand talk, Archie Roach, Lanny, for a start.

I have Bruny too. I don’t know what’s holding me back with that. It’s quite a mix, and although there’s a few ‘usual suspects’, I feel the list is quite balanced this year.

I have so many of these on my TBR list as well as a couple on my shelf and several out of the library. Hopefully, I get to them all soonish.

The good books just keep on rolling out. I kind of feel sorry for authors at the moment. The market is congested with quality new releases.

It certainly is. I’m going to attempt to not buy or borrow any more books until I get through the hundred on my tbr pile. I’m very behind in my reading. Trouble is there’s always new ones and it’s so hard.

It really is hard to resist! I’m so behind as well. I’ve been really tired during the weeknights lately and that’s been slowing me down.

You’re way ahead of me and I don’t get half the books you get. I think you’re incredible.

A great bunch of books but again I’m feeling overwhelmed… (although have read quite a few).

At least you could never be expected to possibly read this entire longlist… 🤷♀️
I like that there are a few surprises rather than just being stacked with the usual big commercial draw cards.
