I’ve never read a Maggie O’Farrell – not sure why… and it is lovely weather at the moment isn’t it. For me it’s like there’s a short window of time until it starts to get too hot!!!

I wonder if it’s because she writes historical fiction. I don’t think all of her novels are historical though, but I’m honestly not across her backlist.
The weather has turned very springtime glorious this weekend. My deck is up high so I get nice mornings and evenings even through summer but this time of year is definitely my favourite.

I actually really liked it. I read it in a day, last Wednesday. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book right through in a day. I’m going to write up my review today. I found it quite compelling. The ending was a bit genre fictionish for me, but overall a good book.

I hope you are enjoying your current reads. Spring hasn’t quite made it here yet..so much rain!
Wishing you a great reading week

I enjoyed all of them, yes. A good bunch. We’ve only had a little bit of rain. Perhaps we need a weather swap!
Good reading to you too. 😊

I just started The Marriage Portrait and… yeah… this is gonna be great!

I liked it right from the beginning too. I’ve seen a couple of negatives pop up on social media, mostly that it’s too much like historical fiction than literary…can’t please everyone!

Hope you;re enjoying MBF.
When I was at Melbourne Writers Festival on the weekend, a person sitting next to me was raving about The Marriage Plot to their friend (it’s okay to eavesdrop at a festival, right?!) – I’ll have to check it out.

Almost compulsory to eavesdrop at a festival, I’d say.
I am enjoying MBF, particularly the political/societal angle. I loved that about the book too. I think Dede is my favourite character though. I’ve never liked a show but hated the main character so much! I find Elena detestable.

Agree – Elena has annoyed me from book two onwards!

I finished watching today. I had to google to be sure on that ending!
