The weather has turned towards the end of this week and we’ve now had a couple of proper chilly evenings and mornings with the days remaining fresh. Coincidence then that just this morning as I write this, I can hear a random scrabbling in my ceiling…someone thinking they can move in for the winter? I’ll be phoning the pest control first thing tomorrow. Things that scrabble are not something I tolerate or feel equipped at dealing with myself.

Thank you on her behalf. She does beautiful work. Each time I scroll through her website I think of our nanna and how proud of her she would be. Nanna really loved birds and native flowers.

My house has a flat roof so things (birds I assume) land on there and wander about. They’re often ridiculously loud, so maybe a possum or something. I try to ignore it as best I can.

I have a tiled roof, not flat. I guess rodents can squeeze into small crevices but I don’t think a possum could. My worry is a rat. When I was a teenager and still living on farms, rats went to town chewing things under the hood of my mother’s car and it caught fire. I have my grandfather’s voice in my head: rats will chew the wires and your house will burn down. Catastrophic, yes, but he was that way inclined. In all likelihood it’s a mouse, I’ve heard rats in roofs before and they’re pretty loud. This was just a scuffling. But I still hate mice too.

Yes and I think I’m auto-approved for Hachette there…. I tend to binge and go and request a heap of books then not look at NG for months!

They’re really lightweight too. I can’t wear heavy earrings, my ears are weirdly sensitive, but these don’t bother me at all.

Awww those earrings are so cute!! And definitely feeling the chill down here, too. We had quite a mild summer, but out of the blue it turned absolutely freezing, and it’s a mad scramble to pull out the winter woollies.
