The Week That Was…

The scorching summer has arrived here in the outback! Take me back to winter…

Joke of the week:

What I’ve read this week:

What I’ve been watching:

I’ve set up a film chat for this one over in my Facebook book club to compliment the Rebecca Buddy Read we had last year. Can’t wait to find out everyone’s opinions on how this film compared to that timeless novel. I did enjoy the film, but they led the viewers to all the answers as opposed to the unsaid manner in which the novel was crafted. It strikes me as perhaps being a version of Rebecca for those who have never read Rebecca. Still well worth watching though, the cinematography is excellent and Manderley is sublime. Brilliant casting as well.

What I’m reading right now:

Until next week… 😊☕📚

  1. Well, winter’s on its way here in the UK. Swap?
Rebecca? Dunno. I’m rarely transfixed by the-film-of-the-book.
As far as I know, Vida Goldstein is little known here, so I wonder if much of the context would be lost on us too?

    • The chapters I was reading last night were all about her time in England assisting the suffrage movement there because Australian women had the vote before English women. The movements were very different, the English one being far more militant, but Vida felt that it was irresponsible to not step up and support her ‘English sisters’. There was quite a lot of detail about the Pankhursts and their friendship with Vida.

As to swapping, it’s 39 degrees we’re talking here… are you sure? 😁
