The Week That Was…

Three things that have made me happy this week are these two new pairs of shoes and this organic red wine. For years I haven’t been able to drink red wine as I’d have an allergic reaction to it (itching inside my throat, flushed and mottled face and neck that also itched) but it was suggested to me that I try organic red wine. No adverse effects! And it also tasted wonderful.

What I’ve been watching:

I’ve been watching a lot of this. Far more than I would normally have watched during the week. I am partially attributing it to the addictive soap opera feel it has but if I’m honest, I’ve also been watching it as a means of escaping this:

I should never have started this in term time, it’s a holiday read. I’m really enjoying the writing but the denseness of it requires a level of concentration that I really don’t possess on a weeknight after the combined efforts of working and managing a household all day. I’ve hit pause on this book and will return to it when I’m better placed to be running towards it rather than running away from it.

Season three of this favourite was released last night. Already two episodes in. The tension! I love it!

Thought of the week:

Imagine if we were all like this kitty? Seeing our strengths in the mirror rather than our weaknesses…

Or perhaps kitty just has an inflated sense of self, in which case, let’s not be like kitty!

Until next week… 🙂📚☕

  1. Love love love those shoes! Gorgeous! And so glad you’ve found some wine that suits. Shoes and wine is a good week indeed. 🙂 I’m also currently watching Reign – it’s strangely addicting in its lavishness. And when oh when did Emma Donoghue sneak out a new book?! Didn’t she just release Akin? *storms off to bookstore* Have a lovely weekend! Kim xo
P.S I got through Wolf Hall, but I’m not sure how. It’s a house brick in a quite a few ways. But I really liked Bring Up the Bodies.

    • Don’t panic, this one by Emma is not out until the 28th of this month! It does seem like Akin was released not that long ago. She’s been busy!
How funny that we’re both watching Reign at present! It’s been on my watch list for the longest time. Megan Follows is very good, a long way from Anne of Green Gables, but she plays her character well.
I’ve read quite a few reviews where people have indicated that they enjoyed Bring Up the Bodies a bit more than Wolf Hall. Just need to get through one though to get to the other!
      Have a great weekend xo

  2. Wolf Hall is a very long book, and for me, it worked best in small doses. It was worth it in the end though, and Bring Up the Bodies is shorter and more concise. Good luck with Wolf Hall anyway.

  3. I loved Reign a few years ago and watched the entire series, it’s very watchable and I loved the wardrobe choices 🙂 I couldn’t get through Wolf Hall back in the day, and it ended up being a DNF for me. I lost track of all the Richards etc.

  4. Oooooh, I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of the Emma Donoghue! And very, very happy for you discovering organic wine – everyone deserves to enjoy a glass of red, especially at the moment! 🍷❤️
