In the Clearing by J.P. Pomare
Often after having read a thriller, the most common thing you’ll hear is: ‘That twist!’ I can’t say that with this one though, because In the Clearing has as many twists as a wizened old oak tree. It’s imaginatively clever, laying down pavers to walk you in one direction only to explosively change direction – again and again.
It’s clever, gripping, thought provoking, and realistic enough to raise the hairs on the back of your neck.
A perfect choice for this bingo category of crime and justice themes!

It sounds like a great thriller! I like the concept of book bingo, but I am afraid, I’m too unorganised to participate. Will follow your posts, though. 🙂

Gahhh, I’ve had a copy of Call Me Evie sitting on my shelves for ages, and I really want to read it! (I ran out and picked it up after I heard an interview with JP, on The Garret I think, and he was so great) I’m kind of cranky at myself that now he’s released a follow up and I *still* haven’t got to it – thanks for the reminder!

This is a standalone though. He’s such a good author! I never read Call Me Evie because I don’t read much of this genre, but he’ll be my exception from now on.

Ahh good, alright, I’ll just have to read them both 😉 Hahaha. He sounds like such a good egg!! It’s not my usual genre either, but I find often if I listen to an interview with an author and they really grab me as a person, their writing will grab me too, whatever it is.
